Terms of Service

Effective August 31, 2026. Last updated August 31, 2026.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern access to and use of SettleThat at https://settlethat.lol (the “Service”), including battles, scoreboards, checkout, accounts, and related features. By using the Service, creating a battle, or completing a payment, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree, do not use the Service and do not pay for a Backing. Before checkout you must confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms.

Operator and contact

The Service is operated by the operator of settlethat.lol (“we”, “us”, “our”).

These Terms work together with How it works. If that page and these Terms conflict, these Terms control.

What the Service is

SettleThat is a permanent public scoreboard for opinions. You may pay to Back one Option in a Battle. A verified payment raises that Option’s public dollar score according to the rules. A Backing is an expression of support, not a wager, prize, investment, donation to the named Option, or a claim that the leading Option is true.

A payment buys a recorded Backing and the score change that amount can take when it is fulfilled. It does not buy traffic, customers, exclusive placement, a fixed duration, winnings, or a financial return.

Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract.
  • If you use the Service for a company, you represent that you have authority to bind that company, and “you” includes that company.
  • You may not use the Service if you are prohibited from receiving services under applicable law, including trade sanctions.

Payments, Dodo Payments, and taxes

Checkout is processed by Dodo Payments, which acts as merchant of record for the payment. We do not collect or store full payment-card numbers. Dodo Payments’ terms and privacy notice also apply to the payment itself. Amounts are priced in US dollars.

Minimums, maximums, and whole-dollar amounts are described in How it works and shown before you pay. Completing checkout is an offer to buy a Backing. The Backing is created only after we receive verified payment confirmation.

When a payment is final

After a Backing is recorded, the payment is generally final. A Backing is a digital service that starts when payment is confirmed: the scoreboard updates, the supporter count may increase, and the paid amount is counted on the public board.

Changing your mind is not a reason for a refund. That includes regretting the payment, wanting the money for something else, or seeing that your Option is no longer leading.

By completing checkout you ask us to start this digital service immediately. Where the law lets you waive a withdrawal or cooling-off period for a digital service that starts at once, you agree to that waiver. Where a mandatory consumer right cannot be waived, we honor that right.

When we refund or fix a charge

We refund or correct a payment in the cases below. Email contact@settlethat.lol with the receipt or payment identifier. Duplicate-charge and unauthorized-charge claims are checked with Dodo promptly; we do not reject them automatically.

  • Duplicate or wrong amount. If a glitch charged you twice or charged the wrong amount, we refund the excess.
  • Charged, but no Backing. If you paid and the Backing was not recorded, we record it as soon as we can confirm the payment. If we cannot deliver the service, we refund.
  • Rejected Option proposal. Proposing an Option is not charged. Checkout happens only after approval. If a charge went through for a proposal that was rejected or expired, we refund it in full.
  • We cancelled the Battle. If we take down or cancel a Battle so that we did not provide the scoreboard you paid for, we refund affected Backings.
  • Unauthorized charge. Tell us. We check the payment with Dodo and do not auto-reject the claim.

Card-network disputes and chargebacks are not the same as asking us for a refund. If a payment is reversed by the network, we may reverse the corresponding score and commission entries.

Battles, Options, and conduct

You may only submit a battle, Option, or URL that you have the right to publish. Battle creators do not receive the Backing payments. Eligible creators or referrers may earn a separate commission under program terms, which is a SettleThat business expense.

You represent and warrant that:

  • The content you submit is accurate and lawful.
  • You are not impersonating another person, brand, or company.
  • Your content is not malware, phishing, a scam, or primarily intended to deceive visitors.
  • You will not use the Service for sexual or pornographic content, exploitation of children, illegal offers, or harassment.

Our right to moderate

We may refuse, delay, hide, freeze, or remove any battle, Option, Backing display, or account, with or without notice, including where we believe these Terms, the rules, or the law may have been broken, or where the scoreboard would otherwise be misleading.

No endorsement

Rank and score show paid support, not truth, quality, popularity, or our opinion. We do not verify claims made in battles. Links to named Options leave SettleThat and have their own terms. We are not responsible for them.

Availability and changes

We provide the Service as-is. It may be unavailable, slow, or incorrect. We may change rules, amounts, commissions, or these Terms. If a change is material, we will update the date at the top of this page.

Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, or that a Backing will produce any outcome other than the recorded score.

Limitation of liability

We do not limit liability that applicable law says we cannot limit, including liability for intent, gross negligence, or injury to life, body, or health.

  • We are not liable for lost profits, lost data, lost goodwill, substitute services, or other indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.
  • Our total liability for a claim relating to a payment is limited to the amount you paid us for the Backing that the claim concerns.

Indemnity

You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the operator of the Service from claims, damages, losses, and reasonable legal fees arising out of your battles, Options, Backings, or your breach of these Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable where the operator of the Service is established, excluding conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer with a mandatory local law that cannot be displaced, that law still protects you.

General

  • If a part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
  • Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a transfer of the Service.
  • These Terms, How it works, the Privacy Policy, and the checkout details you confirm form the entire agreement for the Service.
  • Payments, hosting, sign-in, and analytics involve third parties, including Dodo Payments. Their outages or decisions are outside our control.
